THE WILSON'S NEIGHBORHOOD STORE
The Wilson's Neighborhood Store was
the brain child of Russell and Joanne
Wilson (Gary's parents).  They opened
their first neighborhood store in 1979
and their second store in 1981.  In 1985
Gary at age 22 actually opened an Ice
Cream Parlor, not far from where his
parents had opened their first store.

So it was not a surprise when Gary took
over the second store in 1990.
In fact there was quite a bit of activity
going on in Gary's life, during those days.

After taking over the store in 1990, his
personal life begin to reshape itself.  He &
Jacqueline committed themselves as a
couple.  Increased the size of their family
from 1 child to 3, and in 1994 made that
now famous decision to add Pizza to the
store's already popular Hamburgers and
Chicken menu.

Then in 1998 Gary and Jacqueline had a
chance to relocate the business, with the
purchase of an entire building.
Which is where they have been
operating from every since.  As you
can see from these pictures, they offer
a wide variety of Food choices at an
affordable price.  They have: Whole
Catfish & Fries for $4.99, a large one
topping pizza for $6.99, 10 pieces of
Chicken (legs & thighs) for $7.99, and
Ice Cream Sundaes for $99 cents.
They truly offer the neighborhood a full
service affordable Corner Store.
Old schoolers remember these shelves

For those of us who only had
neighborhood stores to depend on,
seeing shelves like the ones on this
page, is that walk down memory lane we
promised.  Can you remember mom or
dad (or better yet Big mama) sending us
to the store for black pepper or some
special item they needed in a hurry.  It
seemed like it was always when they
needed it in a hurry.   Or can you
remember having some chump change
to spend and running to that corner store
with sugar plums dancing in your head.

And I don't know about you, but Fus'Kari
and Ubi (my step-daughter) are from St.
Louis.  There are 3 items they have
never been able to resist.  1. Those
neighborhood Chinese (store front)
restaurants,  2.  A White Castle
Hamburger,  & 3.  One of those big hot
green pickles, like the one pictured on
the left.  All that is missing is the
peppermint stick (smile)
